Make a Bold Impression for the Season
Retailers and other businesses decorate their brick-and-mortar businesses for the holidays, shouldn’t you decorate your digital real estate? Now is the perfect time to refresh your social media & website visuals. Take advantage of the holidays to transform your website and social media channels. Let’s Holiday-ize your digital presence!
It doesn’t have to be cheesy or drastic like “ugly Christmas sweater”. Done tastefully, your holiday digital visuals can warm your customers and give them a “feel-good” experience that may induce a click of that action button. It could be as simple as using holiday graphics with your Facebook posts, or as elaborate as a full make-over for your website, Twitter, Facebook and other social media channels.
Be creative with eye-catching, compelling colors and graphics to help your social media and website stand out. As you scroll your Facebook timeline, notice that the posts that get your attention are usually stunning photographs, graphics, or videos. Text content is also important, but I’ll address that in a later blog. For now, surprise your current customers with striking innovative graphics and attract new customers with vibrant new stunning images.
Holiday-ize the colors of your menu text, ACTION or DONATE buttons, borders, icons, sidebars, and/or backgrounds. Update your website landing page with holiday graphics. Depending on your style and your brand, your composition can be cute and fun, humorous, elegant and classy, or serious and emotional.
Notice in my website landing page image above how I’ve turned my menu bar text and social media icons orange-ish brown instead of the usual pink. I’ve used a custom designed background graphic with a “Chiller” font, and a few simple Halloween theme icons.
And here’s Thanksgiving:
Play Around With Your Logo
Holiday-ize your logo! I also changed the pink color of my logo to orange. A logo doesn’t have to be the same ALL the time. It’s OK to play around with variations in color. It is simple to do with graphic editing software. If you need help with this, contact me below.
From Pink: To Halloween Orange: To Thanksgiving Colors:
I used a similar Halloween theme on my my Twitter account. I just changed it up a bit so that it’s not redundant. If you have the same visuals and information on each social media channel, there’s no reason for a customer to visit all of your channels. Entice followers to visit them all from one channel to the next by giving them something different at each one and then refer them to the other channel for a diverse experience. You can be more matchy-matchy if you like, just try to change up the layout a bit.
My Thanksgiving Facebook Banner – Click to View Remember to design your social media ads for the holidays as well. And you can also refresh other details, such as buttons the user clicks. See my contact button at the bottom of this page. It’s an exciting time of year to be creative and stand out in your social media!
Don’t Forget to Preserve & Build Brand Awareness
People remember visuals more than words, so a visual refresh of your digital real estate is an opportunity to present something new even if you don’t have a new product or service to offer. Just make sure that you enhance your brand and keep a consistent message with all of your digital channels. Ensure that you place your logo and your web URL on all graphics, because if followers share your content, you want your brand to be shared as well.
Change up the colors of your logo, but don’t mutilate it. You can also use a temporary holiday tagline or tagwords.
The objective is to preserve, yet build your brand’s image. Dynamic visuals can help you reach this objective.
